Eager to explore the awesome bike trails around New Zealand? We offer an extensive range of bikes for hire across our stores in Whangarei, Rotorua, Taupo, Nelson, and Queenstown. We're proud to offer you new-season Giant and Trek bikes in our hire fleet. Our bikes are assessed after every hire, ensuring you get the best experience and ride with confidence!

Whether you are looking for a freeride cross country mountain bike, or a casual cruiser we will have an option to suit. For the explorers we have a range of 27.5" wheel cross country, hard tail and full suspension bikes. We also have e-Bikes if you want to cruise around the city streets with options available for riders. Kids' bikes are available in Whangarei, Rotorua, Taupo, and Queenstown.

All our bikes are available at a half day (4 hours) or full day (8 hours) hire and include a bike helmet and repair kit with each rental.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do you offer bike hire?

At this stage bike rentals are available in 6 locations across the country - Whangarei, Rotorua, Taupo, Nelson, and Queenstown.

What do I need to go bike riding?

If you're renting from us you'll just need yourself and some comfy clothing, we'll provide you with the bike and helmet as well as knee/elbow protection where needed.

What do I get with my hire bike?

A standard rental comes with the bike, a helmet, puncture repair kit and a pump.

What pedals do the bikes come with?

All our bikes come fitted with flat pedals as standard but we do have Shimano SPD pedals available in store if you are bringing your own shoes. You can select this option at the time of booking but if you forget, just ask a member of staff when you're in store.

Can I bring my own pedals?

Sure thing, just bring them with you when you collect the bike and we will fit them for you then and there.

How often do you service your gear?

Our bikes are checked over by a qualified bike mechanic every time they are returned to ensure they are in the best possible shape every ride.

What kind of bikes do you offer?

We offer Hardtail Mountain Bikes, Dual Suspension Bikes, e-Bikes and Kids' Mountain Bikes.

We have hardtail mountain bikes for those lake cruises, Dual suspension trail and enduro bikes for those wanting to hit the local singletrack and even full Downhill options for those serious about their lift accessed riding. We also have hard tail and dual suspension e-bikes for those that want to explore a little further or just want that little extra help on the hills!

Can I collect my bike gear the night before I go?

Bike collection is only available on the day of your booking. But get in contact with the store you have booked with for any specific needs and we may be able to help you out.

What happens if I damage the gear whilst I've got it?

We offer damage protection on all of our rentals. Depending on the type of bike, there is a minimum cost of $2 a day and covers any repairable accidental damage that may occur from things such as hidden rocks on the trail. Note: it does not cover the total write-off of the equipment or damage done due to negligence/improper use, loss or theft of equipment. Nor does it apply to personal injury or damage which may occur during use of the hire equipment.

What is damage protection?

Damage Protection covers you for any accidental equipment damage and breakage that may occur under normal usage conditions during the term of your hire. When you take Damage Protection cover, costs to repair any damage or breakage which may occur from normal use of the hired equipment is covered.

Note: It does not apply to negligence, misuse, lost or stolen equipment, nor does it apply to personal injury or damage caused by usage of the hired equipment.

Do you offer group discounts?

Yes, we offer discounts for multi-day rental, groups and students. Please get in touch with the store directly for information.

I haven't received my order confirmation email?

Can I change my booking once it's confirmed?

Yes, however changes are only able to be made if that equipment is available to hire on your booked hire dates. Torpedo7 will make best endeavours only to accommodate any requested changes. Hire equipment changes may incur further charges.

What is your cancellation policy?

Full refunds will be given up to 7 days prior to the date of the booking. Refunds within 7 days of the date of the booking may be given at Torpedo7's discretion only.


Torpedo7 Hire Equipment Terms & Conditions:

  1. All rental equipment and/or accessories are hired at the risk of the Hirer.
  2. The Hirer confirms that the personal information supplied is correct.
  3. The hirer confirm they have viewed the rental equipment and/or accessories and are happy the equipment is in a safe and satisfactory condition at the time of rental.
  4. Hirer accepts full responsibility for the care and security of the equipment for the full duration of the hire period and will return the equipment by the due date and time.
  5. In the event that any rental equipment and/or accessories are hired are beyond repair, lost or stolen - the hirer will be charged the full replacement cost of the item.
  6. The Hirer authorises Torpedo7 to debit the Hirers credit card for any monies still owing in respect of the hire, at the end of the hire period, should the rental equipment be returned late or there is a repair or equipment cost as it relates to point 5.
  7. The customer shall incur any expenses, disbursements and legal costs incurred by Torpedo7 in the collection of any overdue amounts owing.
  8. The Hirer indemnifies Torpedo7 for any responsibility or liability in the unfortunate case of injury, death or damage which may occur while using the rental equipment and/or accessories.
  9. The hirer authorises Torpedo7 to store their personal details/data for the purposes stated herein only.
  10. Damage Protection cover is available to purchase at time of hire and covers accidental equipment damage and breakage that occurs under normal usage conditions. It does not apply to negligence, misuse, lost or stolen equipment, nor does it apply to personal injury or damage caused by usage of the rental equipment for its stated purpose. If the equipment is lost or stolen the Hirer must report this to the Police within 48 hours. If the Hirer does not take the damage protection offered at the time of hire, any repairs or replacement necessary will be charged to the credit card details provided in this contract, at a rate not greater than the purchase price.
  11. The Hirer accepts there is no refund for early return of rental equipment.
  12. The Hirer has read and understood the Terms & Conditions of this hire agreement and agrees to be bound by them.
