Afterpay Card is a contactless digital card stored in your digital wallet on your phone. You can add your Afterpay Card to your digital wallet via a one-time setup prompted in your Afterpay app.
To use Afterpay, you must qualify under the following conditions: be living in Australia or New Zealand, be at least 18 years old, have a valid email address, phone number & ID, have a debit or credit card issued in Australia or New Zealand and be capable of entering into a legally binding contract.
You can either initiate the transaction via the Afterpay app or launch the card directly from your digital wallet. Tap your Afterpay Card on the card terminal to pay and finalise the transaction.
If a decline error occurs, check that your pre-approved available to spend limit is high enough to cover the purchase amount. This amount is visible via the in-store tab in your Afterpay app. If issues occur, please contact the Afterpay Customer Service Team.
You can complete the refund by accessing your Afterpay Card directly from your digital wallet or via the below steps within your Afterpay app:
(1) Open your Afterpay App and select the in-store tab
(2) Click on “How it works” above your pre-approved available to spend limit.
(3) Scroll down to “How do I return an order?” and tap the ‘Refund to Afterpay Card’ button.
(4) Tap your Afterpay Card on card terminal to complete the transaction.
NOTE: If the original sale was made using Afterpay, the refund must go back onto the customer’s Afterpay Card and no other tender type.
This will be different for each customer. Customers can have between $10-$3000 available to spend. The customer can view their pre-approved available to spend limit on the in-store tab in their Afterpay App.
The customer can contact the Afterpay Customer Service Team via the in-app help centre.
Sometimes customers will be asked to enter a PIN after tapping Afterpay Card to the card reader. If this happens you can create or update your PIN easily within the Afterpay app. Simply click ‘How it works’ from the in-store tab and set or update your PIN from the options.
It can take up to 10 business days to restore funds to the customer’s original payment method. In some cases after the store has processed the refund, the customer will be prompted to follow a guided pop-up in the app to apply the refund to the original order.
